Worrying about someone doesn’t help them. Be an example.
You’ll never get back the time you wasted feeding your worry. When you’re 85, you’ll kill for the moments you wasted worrying about someone else.
It’s normal, though. We want the people we care about to be happy, healthy, and successful. But the best way to help them do that is to be happy, healthy, and successful ourselves. You can inspire them. Worrying will never help. It’ll only exhaust you and waste the precious energy you need to be the best you can be. To help those around us we must do it ourselves.
Of course, if someone is doing their best and asks for your help, do it! Help them get to the next level. But you can’t do someone’s work for them. You can’t care more about their career, health, or life than they do.
Write the book. Finish the album. Lose the weight. Get the degree. Do what fulfills you, and fight twice as hard when it hurts. Feel the blood course through your body. Feel that beautiful strength and clarity that comes when you’re pushing as hard as you can.
I write these pieces in hopes that they get you at the right moment and can help you get back on track. Focus on what you can control, use your time and energy right, and build something gorgeous with your life.
