Today I ran a mile and ate less of a cupcake than I usually would. But I’m starting somewhere. I think people put off major life projects because they don’t let themselves start small. Sure, some people change their lives at the drop of a dime and don’t look back. If you can do that, kudos to you, but I can’t and I don’t think most people can either.
Let yourself start small. I didn’t start writing by putting in two hours a day at 4AM. I started with a paragraph in class. Then another paragraph at work the month after. That was the Fall of 2015. Then that Winter Break, I wrote 10 pages of a story. That took a month. Now I write 10 pages in 2 days. Start small.
Fall in love with the process. I love running. I’m gonna focus on the rush of positivity I get after running instead of focusing on the hundreds of workouts I’ll have to do to lose this weight. You see the difference? One works and the other one doesn’t. Just start, and keep going and keep building because it makes you feel good! I feel good when I work out. I feel good when I eat healthy. I feel good when I write. Get started on those big goals of yours, and take it one day at a time.
